Josh Batla's Web Development Portfolio Site

I was raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I am a part-time student at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Ia. I chose to go part-time because I still have a full-time job I am going to Hawkeye so I can get an associates degree in the Web Development program. I currently plan to graduate in the spring of '26. One of my goals for the program is to have a 2.7 gpa when I graduate. This may seem insignificant for most people but for me having this would mean a lot because of how hard it is for me to learn new material from books. The reason for this is because of my brain surgeries from having epilepsy. I grew up playing a lot of video games so technology has always fascinated me. Maybe with this kind of education I can dabble back into the video game world again. My secondgoal would be to memorize a good portion of the different kinds of tags we use in programming because like I said earlier its hard to recall information like we are learning in this program.

My favorite assingment so far would be the mini project. It was nice going through all the pictures from our honeymoon in Norway from this spring to use for this project. A couple things that I learned from this assingment is a better and more efficient way in styling pictures and that a lttle mistake can have a huge impact on your web page. This video I recorded is from a RIB boat tour we took to see a few of the fijords in Songesand.

Mini-Project

Right now my main plan is to get some experience with a job as a developer or something similar to that. Having that experience could then lead me to doing freelance work developing personal and small business sites like my wife's business site. Up to this point I've spent most of my career in the restaurant industry and warehouse manufacturing work and would like get out of those industries. I would like to use my degree to eventually find a remote job so that me and my wife could travel more and enjoy our hobbies in new areas. For example, we like going on bike rides together.
